Pet Laser Therapy
A non-invasive holistic treatment.
We currently use a Companion Therapy Laser Class IV therapeutic laser and we are thrilled to have this “drug-free, surgery-free” option to reduce your pet’s inflammation and pain. Watch a video description of how Companion Lasers work.
What is a therapeutic laser and how does it work? The most common uses of the Class IV therapeutic laser are to treat acute pain, chronic conditions, and post-operative pain. The therapeutic laser sends photons (packets of light energy) deep into tissue without damaging the tissue. The photons are absorbed into the cells which creates ATP in the cell. ATP is the fuel, or energy, that cells need to repair and rejuvenate. Therapeutic laser use results in healthier cells, tissue, and healthier animals. See how laser therapy works in an animation video.
What will we use the therapeutic laser for? Anywhere your pet has inflammation, a wound, or pain, the laser can be used as a pain-free, surgery-free, drug-free treatment. It can be used to treat a variety of injuries, wounds, fractures, neurological conditions, numerous dermatology problems, and pain. Whether your pet is recovering from an injury, surgery or trauma or simply aging, the laser has been scientifically shown to provide relief and speed healing. Are there any side effects?
There are NO known side effects with this treatment and the FDA has cleared the laser for reducing inflammation and pain.
How long do the treatments take?
The treatment protocols will vary according the pet and the condition. For this reason, there is variability in treatment time, duration, and cost. For some chronic conditions, the pet will return for repeated treatment sessions. For acute or surgical pain, one treatment may be sufficient. Although we administer the treatment in short sessions at the clinic, the laser initiates healing that continues to actively reduce inflammation for up to 24 hours after treatment.
What will my pet feel during treatment?
A laser therapy session provides relief to the pet. No fur on the pet needs to be clipped. Eye protection is provided to the pet and anyone in the room. The laser light is delivered through a non-invasive handpiece to treat the affected area. The clinician will gently move the probe over the area of treatment and your pet will feel gentle soothing warmth.
