Why is AAHA Accreditation important?

It may be surprising to you, but accreditation of animal health care facilities is voluntary, not mandatory.  In fact, only 15% of veterinary hospitals are accredited.  AAHA stands for the American Animal Hospital Association.  It is an organization that accredits animal hospitals through the United States of America and Canada.  AAHA-accredited hospitals voluntarily choose to be evaluated on 900 standards.  Hospitals accredited by AAHA must demonstrate an exceptional level of medical care and client service and they are re-evaluated every three years to make sure they are keeping up with industry standards.  Choosing an AAHA-accredited hospital assures pet owners that the hospital they select has the staff, equipment, medical procedures and facilities that AAHA believes are vital for delivering high-quality veterinary care.  Pet owners can feel reassured about their care their pets receive at AAHA-accredited hospitals.  Click here for more information about AAHA and to find an AAHA-accredited hospital in your area.
